Sophie Willis, 95, of Plains Township, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by John Willis, her husband of 46 years, and Rick Willis, her youngest son. In her immediate family, she is survived by her children, Jack and Maureen Willis, Citrus Heights, Calif.; David and Karlyn Willis, Plains Township; and Laurie Willis, Old Lyme, Conn.; grandchildren, Sherri, David, Lacey and Caitlin; and several great-grandchildren. Our family would like to recognize the love and thoughtfulness extended by her nieces. Also, we extend special thanks to her neighbor, Bill, good friend, Miss Jean and Tom Molchan, along with the staff from Hospice of the Sacred Heart. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, a gift may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
