Charles H. Becker Jr., 66, of 910-C Hanover St., New Oxford, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley Louise (Shadle) Becker.
Born Dec. 9, 1935, in New Oxford, he was the son of Helen I. (Hockensmith) Becker of New Oxford and the late Charles H. Becker Sr., who died in 1957.
He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in New Oxford. He worked at Windsor Shoe Manufacturing in Littlestown for 16 years and for Alwine Brick Company of New Oxford. He belonged to Local 7343 United Steel Workers of America and was affiliated with Abbottstown Youth Baseball team.
Surviving also are a daughter, Tina L. Watson of Hanover; a son, Kevin E. Becker of New Oxford, seven sisters, Joann Markle of Hollywood, Md., Mary Shadle of Littlestown, Barbara Albano of York, Dorothy Jones of Glenville, Marie Hitt of Pikesville, Md., and Loretta Young and Susan Harner, both of Littlestown; seven brothers, Donald Becker of Littlestown, John Becker of Bedford County, Ronald Becker and Paul Becker of New Oxford, Louis Becker and Larry Becker of East Berlin, and Merle Becker of New Oxford; two grandsons, Josh Watson and Cory Watson; and a granddaughter, Whitney Watson.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Becker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford. The Rev. Jeffrey F. Toms will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Feiser Funeral Home Inc., 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford. Family and friends may meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. to proceed to the church for Mass.
