She was born in Szerencs, Zemplen, Hungary to Andrew and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Oros) Riczu. She came to the United States through Ellis Island about 08 March 1907.

She married Michael Vargo on 05 February 1910 in Norwalk, Fairfield Co, Connecticut. They had 8 children, including my grandmother, Mary. (I am honored to have the china sugar bowl and creamer from one of their wedding gifts.)

Gramma Vargo was short in stature, but was a very strong-willed woman. She lost the love of her life after being married for 32 years and she never remarried.

She had a little Cocker Spaniel named Cindy. She also LOVED to garden and we always loved visiting her. They lived in the west half of the old I.H. Thayer home, while daughter Mary and family lived in the east half.

When she finally had to be moved to a rest home, her hair had to be cut. I am sure it broke her heart when they removed over 4 feet of braid.
