Ichabod was a soldier in the Revolution for the entire seven years of the war. Family records state, "He never carried a gun but was detailed to buy horses for the army".
Ichabod is a Mayflower descendent. Father=David, grandfather=John, greatgrandfather=Jonathan,Jr. who was married to Hannah Howland whose parents were both on the Mayflower (John Howland and Elizabeth Tillie).
The upward line continued to Jonathan Sr. and the patriarch Edward Bosworth who traveled from England on the "Elizabeth & Dorcas" ship with his family. He died in the harbor on August 5, 1634 while still on the ship. His wife Mary and their 4 children (Mary, Jonathan, Benjamin and Nathaniel) worked to pay off their passage fare.
