George was baptized at St Mary, Tewkesbury, on 6 April 1775, the son of William and Sarah Banaster. He was a Wine Merchant, and lived on High Street, Tewkesbury. According to his obituary in the Worcester Journal, George's many deeds of charity entitled him to the good opinion of his fellow men; he was a secretary to the Bowling Green Club for many years, whose members requested permission to be allowed to follow him to his grave, and nearly every shop and private house in the town was closed during the time the funeral procession passed through the streets.

GEORGE BANASTER, Esq the Husband of the above named ELIZABETH BANASTER died 24th March 1858 aged 83 Years.
