Justamere was shown with his grandparents, Harry and Dena Workman in the 1940 US census. He was named as Jay M. Martin in the 1965 Davenport obituary of his (step) grandfather, Harry Workman. Harry Workman had been in the furniture business with stepson James William Rose in Davenport at Brammer Manufacturing and later as J D Industries. Justamer's father was born Martin Rose and changed his name to Harry Martin between his WWI draft registration in 1918 and his marriage to Malinda Flagg in 1919; at that time, Martin Rose/Harry Martin was still legally married to his first wife, Hattie Vorhoeks, who did not file for divorce until 1920. All 4 sisters listed in Justamere's obituary were of his father's first marriage to Hattie.
