Adolph was born in Germany (Pommern) on 29 Apr 1840 and died in St. Joseph, Michigan on 23 Jul 1929. He emigrated Dec. 1, 1865 with his 1st wife Augusta Wentzlaff and oldest son, Albert. Adolph and Augusta had six children: Albert,Fred, John, Theresa, Rose and Wilhelm and lived in Chicago, Illinois. Adolph married 2nd Alvina (Zordel) Henspeter on Jan. 10, 1893 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Adolph and Alvina had five children: Clara, Laura, Mary, Clyde and Mabel. Adolph was the 2nd husband of Alvina (Zordel) Henspeter and she had children by her 1st husband.

An obituary for Adolph Dombrowsky was carried in the Herald Press on 22 July 1929 and it reads: “Adolph Dombrowsky Succumbs; Funeral Friday Afternoon Adolph Dombrowsky, member for 30 years of the Trinity Lutheran church in this city, died early this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. August Weik, of Lewis avenue. He was 89 years old and had been ill since February 16. His wife died two years ago last February. Mr. Dombrowsky came to St. Joseph about 37 years ago, residing in Chicago before that time. He came to this country as a young man of 25. Children surviving Mr Dombrowsky are Mrs. Orville Fetke of St. Joseph; Clyde Dombrowsky of Benton Harbor; Mrs. August Weik, Mrs. Albert Wessendorf and Mrs. Clara Ruggles of St. Joseph; five children by a former marriage, Albert, Fred and John Dombrowsky and Mrs. Theresa Miekle, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Rose Duha of Kansas City; and four step-children, Charles Henspeter of St. Joseph; Fred Henspeter of Galien; William Henspeter of Kansas City, and Mrs. Amos Carpenter of Three Oaks. Mr. Dombrosky also leaves 25 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with services at 1:30 o’clock at the Weik residence on Lewis avenue, and 2 o’clock at Trinity Lutheran church. The rev. Louis Nuechterlein will officiate and burial will be in the St. Joseph City cemetery.”
