The PVT. James Chism & Mary Howard ancestry has been disproven. John Chism/Chisholm, Sr. and Mary Gum were the parents of Jacob Chism & his siblings, not James Chism & Mary Howard.
Jacob and family are not buried in the Versailles Cemetery. They are buried on the family farm, which was located about four miles outside of town, said cemetery was destroyed and plowed under. Only the broken pieces of Priscilla and her son John Chism's headstones have been recovered and are part of the Chism memorial located in downtown Vesailles.
