The son of Richard F. Jones (b. 1872, d. 1962) and Mary Ellen Jones (b. 1871, d. 1944).
Siblings were: William Pierce Jones (b. 1894, d. 1979), Leslie Owen Jones (b. 1897, d. 1984), Benjamin Jay Jones (b. 1902, d, 1987), Edwin L. Jones (b.1903, d. 1989), Ralph Foulkes Jones (b. 1907, d. 1999) and Laura Ellen (Jones) Jenkins (b. 1913, d. 2002).
Emrys moved to California in 1924 and invited his brother Edwin to move to California also. Together they trained show horses until WWII when Edwin joined the Navy.
Emrys worked for the California Highway Department and at Hewlett Packard before his retirement. He and his brother, Edie also owned Edie's Smoke Shop together in Downtown Palo Alto, California.
On August 29, 1956, he married Marie K. McMurray. Em was a member of the Elks Lodge.
