DEXTER, Mo. -- Paul McAnelly, son of the Fred and Ella Lowery McAnelly, was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 96.
On Dec. 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Betty Jewel Lockhart. She preceded him in death Nov. 19, 2008.
Paul was a former custodian at Sikeston (Missouri) Senior High School and a farmer for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a former resident of the Oran, Missouri, area.
Survivors include a son, Steve (Connie) McAnelly of Jackson; daughters, Linda Northington of Dexter and Patsy McAnelly of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Geneva Statler of Bloomfield, Missouri; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie Morse, Bernice Eaves and Pauline Bone Gaddy.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery in Morley, Missouri. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
