Carol passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at her home on December 24, 2022 after a brief illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Issac Butterworth officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Carol Cullum Allred was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on January 6, 1931 to Landon Haynes Cullum and Leila Beall Anderson Cullum.
Carol was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School in 1948. She attended Christian College in Columbia , Missouri and the University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
On April 26, 1952, Carol married Johnny B. Allred, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, needlepointing, fly fishing, and time spent at their cabin in Colorado. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol was active in PTA, was a Campfire leader, Volunteered at the State Hospital, was a Charter Member of the Junior League, Colony Club, Cotillion Club, Unity lll, and the Wednesday Group. Carol was a life long member of First Presbyterian Church. She served on the Archives Committee and Wedding Committee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her late husband; and two brothers Landon and Jimmy Cullum.
She is survived by her daughter Ann Kable and husband John; and her son Dick Allred and his wife Renee all of Wichita Falls, Texas; granddaughter Karoline Kable Ray and husband Brandon of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; grandson Ward Kable and wife Meghan of Midland, Texas; granddaughter Camille Allred of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandson Charlie Allred and wife Erin of Thornton, Colorado; great-granddaughters Cora, Leila, Landon Ray, Emma Kate, Kensington, Clara Kable; and one great grandson David Ward Ray, and numerous beloved friends. We are so indebted to Allie, Dana, Helen, Jill, Polly, and Rita and to the caregivers with Hospice of Wichita Falls for all their loving care shown to our mother.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310; or to a charity of one's choosing.
