Elaine was born on March 31, 1924, in Manitowoc to Edward and Anna (Handl) Herman. She was a 1942 graduate of Lincoln High School. On April 17, 1948, she married Mark LeClair at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2017. While her husband was in the military, Elaine worked as a clerical typist for Manitowoc Shipbuilding during the war. Elaine enjoyed bowling, watching Jeopardy, and going up to their place in Door County and fishing. She was an avid sports fan, and loved watching the Packers, Bucks, Brewers, and Badgers.
Elaine is survived by three sons: John and Kathy LeClair, Luxemberg, Bob LeClair, Manitowoc, and Michael LeClair and Janet Smith, Stevens Point; one daughter: Lori and Patrick Jarvis, Columbus, OH; grandchildren: Luke and Alex LeClair, Andrea LeClair-Rusk, and Nicholas and Abigail Jarvis; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Anna Herman; husband: Mark LeClair; and daughter-in-law: Wanda LeClair.
A funeral service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Elaine will be laid to rest next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery in Manitowoc.
