Clare E. Mattis, nee Lazauskas, dear mother of Dr. Richard (Helen) Mattis; loving grandmother of Charles (Kelly Harrington), Caroline (Daniel) Muro, Ann and Edward; great-grandmother of Charles, Nicholas, Megan Mattis and Francesco Muro; also survived by nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. Clare was preceded in death by her husband, 1st Lt. Charles R. Mattis, U.S. Army Infantry, killed in action in France during WWII. Clare was also preceded by one sister and four brothers. Member of St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Society and Sisters of St. Casimir Auxiliary. Visitation, Friday 11 a.m. until Noon at Nativity B.V.M. Church, 2700 W. 69th St., Chicago. Mass will begin at 12 Noon. Interment, St. Casimir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity would be preferred. Lack & Sons Funeral Directors, 708-430-5700.
