Television/movie screenwriter, author. Burt Prelutsky was born in Chicago in 1940, moved to L.A. at the age of six. He entered UCLA in 1957, where he got serious about pursuing a writing career by contributing to the Daily Bruin, the literary magazine, and Satyr, the annual humor magazine, along with Joel Siegel and Harry Shearer. In his sophomore year, he became the movie reviewer for the Daily Bruin and that quickly led to his turning pro, at the age of 18, when Los Angeles magazine hired him to be their movie critic. In his 20s, he began writing a humor column for the L.A. Times, which caught the attention of Jack Webb, who invited him to write for "Dragnet." Since then, he has written for "McMillan & Wife," "Mash," "Mary Tyler Moore," "Rhoda," "Bob Newhart," "Family Ties," "Dr. Quinn" and "Diagnosis Murder."" He has also written TV movies that starred Jean Stapleton, Ed Asner, Keith Carradine, Sylvia Sidney, Richard Thomas, Dena Delaney, Ed O'Neill, Jean Simmons, Sharon Gless, Mare Winningham, David Soul, Dennis Weaver, Lillian Giss and Jack Warden. He has written eight books: "Conservatives Are from Mars, Liberals Are From San Francisco," "Liberals: America's Termites," "Barack Obama, You're Fired!" "The Secret of Their Success," "Portraits of Success,"" Angels on Tap," "The Story of My Life" and "Finding Angel: The Tale of a Rescue Dog. "Over the past 20 years, he has written roughly 4,000 articles for Breitbart, WorldNetDaily, Bernard Goldberg's website, the Patriot Post and, for the past five years, for his subscribers. Burt lived in North Hills, California with his rescue dog, Angel. Burt was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne in 2019. He died on December 17, 2021, after complications following a drop in blood pressure.
