JoAnn Hancock Ginn, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at St. Dominic's Hospital. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS 39209, on Saturday, January 7 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM in the chapel. A graveside service will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ginn was born on February 3, 1938 to the late Felton and Myrtle White Hancock. She devoted 53 years of service to the Baptist Children's Village, retiring as an Executive Assistant. After she retired, she dedicated herself to caring for her special needs grandson. She loved the Lord and was a member of Pocahontas Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and listening to country music.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Ray Ginn; parents; and brothers, Jimmy and James Edward Hancock.
Mrs. Ginn is survived by her children, Sharon Rosamond (Mark) and Danny Ginn (Monica); sister, Hilda Jane Buchanan (Gilbert); grandchildren, Keeley, Madison, Mikenzie and Colton Rosamond, Jason Ginn, Kristen Gilmer (Chase), Lynette Quiroga, Rico Quiroga; and great grandchildren, Bowen Gilmer, Levi Gilmer, Elijah Barboza and Christopher Barboza. She is also survived by her nieces, Shelia Unruh (Myron), Regina Myerchick (Paul) and Rena Knight (Darryl); and nephews, Keith Hancock (Kathy), Richie Buchanan (Tina) and Rodney Buchanan (Jennifer).
