LIDIA (MUFFI) ACIERNO
November 13, 1940 - January 1, 2023

Age 82, of Highland Park, passed away on New Year's Day with her children, Louis Acierno, Veronica (Maria) Acierno, and Anthony Acierno by her side.

Lidia was born November 13, 1940, in Villa Selciaroli, Abruzzo, Italy to Antonio and Filomena Muffi.

She immigrated to the United States at 17 years old, with her mother, Filomena, and four siblings to join other family who came before her.

Lidia embraced her new life and returned to Italy to marry Vincenzo Acierno. The couple returned to Pittsburgh to start their life together. After Vincenzo died in 2003, Lidia found purpose in volunteering for the Allegheny County Senior Companion Program. She completed 15 years of service before illness prevented her from continuing her work. She touched many lives during that time and was very proud of helping others who would otherwise be alone.

Lidia loved meeting new people, attending family and never missed an opportunity to gather with others. In her last days, she cherished visits from her extended family and expressed deep peace with the life her Lord had granted her.

Lidia is survived by grandchildren, Sabrina, Vince, Tobias, Lindsay, Alivia; and one great-grandchild, Latham; her two beloved sisters, Teresa Talkowski and Angelina Bucco; and six siblings who awaited her in heaven, Giuseppe Muffi, Rocco Muffi, Francesca Colucci, Elizabeth Armhein, Maria Masci, and Anna Muffi.

Visitors will be received Thursday, 2-8 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. Blessing Service to immediately follow Friday at 10 a.m. WINTER FUNERAL HOME, 4730 Friendship Ave., Bloomfield.
