Nora Simonson Kreger had the rare experience of living in three centuries. The former Minneapolis resident died in Delray Beach, Fla. at the age of 105, somewhat inappropriately on Dec. 21, the shortest day of the year. She was born Dec. 17, 1898, in Windom, MN. As a young woman in 1919, she relocated to Minneapolis, accompanied by her sister Alma, then to Detroit, MI, in 1921, where she was employed by the Ford Company. Her working career included time as school teacher, a beautician, and secretary. She married Albert Kreger, Minneapolis, May 15, 1948. They lived in Minneapolis and Bloomington. Following his death in 1967, she moved back to Detroit. After wintering in Florida since 1969, she became a permanent Florida resident in 1978. Both her parents were born in Norway. A Norwegian born grandfather was a Union soldier who perished in 1863 in the American Civil War. He served in a largely Scandinavian regiment recruited in Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tobias and Anna Solberg Simonson; brothers, Peter, Walter and Melvin Simonson; sisters, Effie and Christina Simonson, Anna Senesac, Josephine Graham, Sophia Huebner and Alma Mork Crissman. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Winston Simonson, Prior Lake; Joyce Wahoske, Burnsville; Marvin Huebner, New London; Sharon Melnick, Richfield; Robert Simonson, Inver Grove Heights; Roger and Ronald Simonson, Minneapolis; Shirley Johnson, Pharr, TX; Raymond Simonson, Cincinnati, OH; Gladys Tubinis, Detroit, MI; Ellsworth Graham, Reseda, CA; and Lois Anne Young, Fallbrook, CA; and their children and grandchildren. Relatives agreed: "Nora Kreger was a warm hearted, gracious lady and a valued family member." Alert and lucid to the end, on her death bed she told nephews, "I never cried because I got older," and, "Remember me as I was, not as I am now."
