Melba "June" Applen, 83, of Quinlan went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2022. She was born on June 22, 1938, in Centralia, IL to Virgil and Marcella Norton Jackson.

June enjoyed sewing and traveling, but more than anything she loved spending time with her family. June had a heart for helping others and serving her community. She was the founder of Hunt County Kids, served on the board of Lake Shared Ministries and served on the board of Helping Hands Today.

June was a member of First United Methodist Church of Quinlan.

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Reeme and Rodney of Quinlan; brother, Jerry Jackson; sister, Janet K. Jackson Jones and William Charley Jones of Wills Point; grandchildren: Alex and David Dagley; niece, Ambra Jones Christie; great-niece, Olivia Christie and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Applen; son, Steven Walter Applen; parents, Virgil and Marcella Jackson; and brother, James Edward Jackson.

There will be a visitation from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Quinlan and a Funeral Service at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Quinlan. Interment will follow service at Lakeside Memorial Park where June will be laid to rest next to her husband.
