David Barrett, 72, passed away December 27, 2022 at his home in Trona, California. He was the oldest son of Fred and Rosemarie Barrett. David was a life long Trona resident. In high school he played football, basketball and baseball. He was a member of the Varsity Club, CSF, Mathletes, and served on the Student Council.

After graduating Trona High School, David attended U.C.L.A. where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1973. In 1975 David returned to Trona and began his 47-year career working for the various companies that owned the Trona Plants. In his most recent job with Searles Valley Minerals he was the Human Resource Manager. David served on the boards of the Desert Valley Credit Union, Trona Senior Center, and Trona Community Chest.

David was involved with high sports as he worked as a football referee and coached basketball. He was an avid sports fan with a lifelong love for the Dodgers and all things U.C.L.A. Through the years he enjoyed hiking, biking, and skiing. His travels took him to many National Parks, Alaska, and Europe. He studied multiple languages, collected stamps, and loved to read. David spent many years teaching yoga. He loved his West Highland Terriers and his miniature Schnauzers.

He is survived by his sisters Donna Barrett and Lisa Georgeson of Long Beach, nieces Jessica Barrett, Francesca Barrett, Victoria Barrett and nephew Christopher Barrett. He is survived by his extended family Lois Barrett of Trona, Rick Harris of Clear Lake, Ruth Bryant and George Malone of Ridgecrest, Tory Tharp and Kayla Tharp.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nancy Barrett Harris, his brother Raymond Barrett.

Graveside services will be held Saturday January 21 at 11 A.M. at the Searles Valley Cemetery. Followed by a private burial, then a "Celebration of Life" at the Trona Elks Lodge.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be make to either the Trona Senior Center or the Trona Community Chest. These donations can be mailed to the Trona Community Chest P.O. Box 413 Trona, CA 93592 or funds can be accepted at Desert Valley Credit Union.
