Jane Ann BURNS was born in South Carolina to William BURNS Sr., a railroad engineer who was born in Scotland, & his first wife, a Miss ARCHER, who was born in New York. She moved to Savannah, Chatham County, by the time she was about eight years old, and lost her mother at about this same time. Her father was remarried in 1849, by the minister of Trinity Methodist Church, in Savannah. In 1858, she was married to Isaac B. CONNER of Screven County by the minister of Trinity Methodist Church. She was a widow by 1867, and she married about 1871 to John C. BRAUDA. She is buried in their family plot at North Newington Baptist Church with her second husband, and with at least three of her children whom she had buried there: an adult son by her first marriage, Norwood F. CONNER, and two of her children by her second marrriage, their young son, Walton W. BRAUDA, and their baby, Ula BRAUDA.

These memorials to members of the HODGES and related families of Effingham and Screven Counties are dedicated to William Clifford REEVES of North Carolina, who died in 2006, a dedicated and generous genealogist with whom I researched these families during 1999-2001.
