Composer, conductor and singer. Born Takeo Masunaga in Tokyo. He studied music theory at the Tokyo Music School and begin his singing career as a ryūkōka singer to support his parents during difficult times after the Great Kantō earthquake. He recorded hits such as "Camp Kouta," "Kage o Shitaite" and "Sake wa Namida ka Tameiki ka." He take a break from his singing career to return to his music studies and after graduating from Tokyo Music School, he continued his singing career and recording western influenced hits such as "Aoi Tsuki" and "Koi no Hanataba." In addition to his singing career, he composed his own songs and touring to support the Japanese royal family and the Japanese military during the World War II. After his imprisonment in Indonesia, he returned to his hometown to continuing his music career and work as a music conductor in Japan Broadcasting Corporation. He was awarded the People's Honour Award by the Japanese government.
