SENATOR DECELL DIES IN COPIAH

Prominent South Mississippian Victim of Week's Illness

HAZLEHURST. July 10-John S. Decell, state senator for many terms, prominent churchman and one of the best know residents of south Mississippi, died today. Senator Decell passed away at the home of his son-in-law, H. C. Fugate, in Hazlehurst, after a week's illness.
He was a former sheriff of Copiah county and leaves a great number of distinguished relatives and friends through the southern counties, among them Rev. Lloyd Decell, Editor of the Methodist Christian Advocate.
Senator Decell made his home at the family plantation west of Hazlehurst, following his retirement several years ago. Funeral services had not been completed late tonight awaiting the arrival of relatives. Services will probably be conducted at the Hazlehurst Methodist church with the Rev. Del Longgrear officiating.
