She was born August 19, 1930, in Pliny, WV, a daughter of the late Ercel Avery Fellure and Edyth Opal (Whitt) Fellure.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Brice Henley Chapman and John James "Jim" Racer; siblings, Lester Fellure, Zeda Ferguson, Hoy Fellure, Hattie Hammond and Emma Hammond; and a stepson, John Racer.
Avaline was a faithful lifelong member of the Mt. Union Church of Pliny, where she taught Sunday School, loved to sing in the church choir and helped anywhere she was needed. She went to Winfield High School and worked at the Sylvania Plant in Point Pleasant. Most of all, she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, ; grandson, ; great-granddaughter, ; great-great-grandson, ; stepson, ; step-grandchild,; and two sisters-in-law, special nephew, special friend,and she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023, at the Mt. Union Church with Pastor Rex Nance officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Cemetery in Pliny. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant.
