Naidene Stroud Trexler, 95, of Newton died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in Dieterich Cemetery. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the funeral at the funeral home. In loving memory of Mrs. Trexler, memorials may be made to Newton Public Library.

Mrs. Trexler was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Effingham County, the daughter of Austin Edgar and Effie (Gephart) Stroud. She married Buell Fay Trexler Nov. 21, 1940, and he preceded her in death March 15, 1983.

Mrs. Trexler was a school teacher in Jasper and Effingham counties for many years. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Newton, Newton Women's Club and many other community organizations over the years.

Naidene is survived by her daughter, Glenda Adrienne Nakamura of Carbondale; two grandchildren, Andrea Naidene Harkleroad of Chicago, who was born on Mrs. Trexler's birthday, and Eric Scott Nakamura of Port Orange, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Emily Paige and Luke Richard Nakamura of Port Orange, Fla.; and sister, Eleanor Rochet of Issaquah, Wash. Naidene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Gene, Adrian and Rupert Stroud.
