Politician and trade unionist. Baranowski served as the Polish Minister of Municipal Economy from 1952 to 1956 and as Minister of Education in 1956. Originally a teacher, by the mid-1930s he joined the Polish Socialist Party, then the Workers' Party of Polish Socialists, and eventually the Polish United Workers' Party by 1948. After serving in several top party roles, Baranowski became the first secretary of the provincial committee in Poznań from 1950 to 1951 and in Bydgoszcz from 1951 to 1952 and again from 1956 to 1958. He was also a member of the National Council of Poland and the Legislative Sejm and the Sejm of the People's Republic of Poland's 1st term, from 1952 to 1956, and 2nd term, from 1957 to 1961. Baranowski served as the Polish People's Republic's ambassador to East Germany from 1961 to 1969.
