Born in Missouri, Mr. Smith came to Des Moines from Harvey 38 years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of America Railway Employees, Moose lodge and Union Park Christian church
Surviving are his widow, Leona; two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Harker and Betty Anne Smith, both of Des Moines; two brothers, Hersel J. of Des Moines, and Lloyd of Marshalltown, and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hall of Des Moines and Mrs. Sulah Meyers of Harvey.
