Paris, July 11 - James Abshear, 80, a retired farmer, died at his residence in Millersburg Friday. He had been seriously ill for six years. A native of Lee County, he was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Scott, Millersburg; Mrs. Roy Adams, Winchester; three sons, Roy Abshear, Winchester; James Abshear Jr., Richmond; Virgil Abshear, Cincinnati; two brothers, Frank Abshear, Winchester; Roosevelt Abshear, Franklin, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Robert Barrett, Booneville; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by the Rev. A. D. Hildebrand, pastor of the Millersburg Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Paris Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reuben Arnsparger, John R. Neal, Lewis Scott, Walter Vickers, Frank Beccue and Steve Bacon.
