OBITUARY
Carol Burtness, 84, West Fargo, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Elim Nursing Home in Fargo.
Carol was born August 1, 1938, to Clair and Marie (Golliet) Georgeson at St. John's Hospital. She grew up in Fargo, graduating from Shanley High School. She then went on to the University of North Dakota where she earned her nursing degree. She then went to work as an RN at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo.
While in school at UND she met the love of her life, John "Bill" Burtness. After they married, she took an extended break from nursing to raise her four children. When they became empty nesters, she returned to work at Bethany Homes in Fargo and remained there until she retired.
In retirement she kept very active, going to the gym regularly where she made many new friends. She also enjoyed biking and walking with Bill on nice evenings in the summer as well as working in her flower beds. She and Bill also enjoyed going to Hawaii a number of times to visit their son Tom and his family during the winter.
Her free spirit and sense of humor will be missed by many.
Carol is survived by her husband, John "Bill" Fargo; children, Lynda (Steve) McAllister, Pelican Rapids MN, Barry (Tammy) Burtness, Fargo, Tom (Candace) Burtness, Honolulu, HI, and Tim (Erin Suppa) Burtness Fargo; sisters, Sylvia Kennsinger, San Diego, CA, Mary Parmelee, Johnstown, CO, Jean Phillips, Minneapolis, MN and brothers, Richard Georgeson, Columbia, SC, George (Michelle) Georgeson, Moses Lake, WA, grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Amber, Elizabeth, Travis, DJ and Bradford; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lucas and Carter.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William "Bill" Georgeson, brother-in-law, Art Parmelee and sister in-law, Viola Georgeson.
