Harold E. Kummer, age 96 of Manitowoc passed away on Monday morning March 6, 2023, at the Villas of Felician Village, Manitowoc.

Harold was born on April 2, 1926, in Manitowoc, son of the late Emil and Carrie (Staudinger) Kummer. He grew up in Manitowoc and graduated in 1944 from Lincoln High School. Harold was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1944-1946 in the Philippines and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Presidential Badge. On January 20, 1951, Harold was married to the former Evelyn Strauss at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maple Grove. He worked as a truck driver for Weber Bakery, Clipper Transit, Dawson Springer, Consolidated Freightways and Gateway.

Harold was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc; Fraternal Order of the Eagles #706 of Manitowoc; VFW Otto-Oas Post #659 of Manitowoc where he served as Captain of the Honor Guard for many years; 3rd Degree Member of William P. Stephani Knights of Columbus Council #710 of Manitowoc; and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus #1212 Assembly of Manitowoc. He also volunteered in the past for Peter's Pantry, St. Francis of Assisi Church office and the Capitol Civic Centre.

Survivors include his wife: Evelyn Kummer, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Lee (Eileen) Kummer, Manitowoc; Gary (Susan) Kummer, St. Petersburg, FL; one daughter and son-in-law: Gail (Curt) Akre, Greenfield; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Eugene Kummer, Manitowoc; Dennis Kummer, Two Rivers; one sister: Arlene Erdmann, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Raymond (Marion) Kummer, Carol Kummer; and one brother-in-law: Richard Erdmann.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 N.14th St, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial with cremation to follow and burial of his cremated remains at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military honors will be accorded at the church immediately following Mass by Otto-Oas VFW Post #659. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
