Dawna Bellwoar, 58 of Phoenixville, PA passed away on March 6th. She was born on August 25, 1964 in Canton, NY to the late Gene I. Johnson and Karleen (Martin) Johnson.

Dawna is survived by her husband Steve; children Patrick and Ben; sisters Heidi Johnson and Kary Johnson (Curt Stager); brother, Noel Johnson (Sara); nephews, Cahlab Mulverhill, Kennen Johnson (Kathleen), and Noah Johnson. She is predeceased by her brother Gene K. M. Johnson.

Dawna attended St. Regis Falls High School where she played varsity basketball and was a cheerleader, and was also a member of the national honor society. Later she achieved a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Potsdam in photography and fine arts.

During college Dawna met the love of her life Steve. The two were married and began a family after moving to Pennsylvania where they spent most of their lives.

But Dawna never really left the north country as she, Steve and the kids traveled there frequently despite the long drive from Pennsylvania. Eventually Dawna and Steve established a summer getaway at Schroon Lake where family and friends often visited and enjoyed the fabulous sunsets.

A life long environmentalist, Dawna was a friend to every animal and enjoyed being outdoors, walking and hiking in the wilderness. She also doted over her furry friends at home where the pets were equal members of the family. If a cat was sitting on top of Dawna she might be late for an appointment as she never wanted to make them move.

Dawna also helped her husband Steve with his philanthropic efforts, particularly with the annual AFTD charity event where her custom pedestals filled with her famous chocolate chip cookies were auctioned off raising thousands of dollars.

Initially Dawna worked in a photography studio then for a prominent law firm where Dawna received a certificate of achievement from the Bucks County Legal Secretaries Association. For over twenty years after that Dawna followed in her mother in law's footsteps, working as the payroll administrator for Colonial Electric.

But most important to Dawna was always her family which took precedence over all other matters. She was very involved in the lives of her children from an early age, having worked as a room mother in their classrooms. A talented seamstress, Dawna was quick to take on any size project and made the kids Halloween costumes which were the envy of all. And she cooked all meals from scratch from natural ingredients. Dawna always cooked extra in case friends and neighbors stopped by, which they often did just to sample her north country home cooking.

Because of the pandemic and her illness Dawna spent her last few years mostly at home with Steve. This time together was a gift that they both cherished.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, March 13th, 9:30AM, at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N Trooper Rd, Eagleville, PA followed by a funeral mass at 11am. The funeral will be live streamed for those who can't attend in person. https://www.facebook.com/visitationbvm/videos/?ref=page_internal
