Maureen Mulvey Rieger, 92 beautiful years of age, passed away on March 8, 2023, peacefully at her home in Norman, Oklahoma, with her five beloved children at her side. She was born on January 8, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Michael Owen Mulvey and Helen Lucille Ermatinger Mulvey, and older sister to her cherished Patty.

Maureen attended Wilson grade school, Harding middle school, and graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1948. She attended Saint Catherine University in Saint Paul, Minnesota and the University of Oklahoma, and had many enjoyable moments in the Catholic singles Coronado Club. She studied Radiological Technology at University Hospital in Oklahoma City and worked for a number of years at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Maureen married Joseph Alois Rieger on June 25, 1955, and lived in Sherman, Texas and Oklahoma City before moving to Norman in 1958. She worked part-time as a radiological technician at the J. D. McCarty Center for children with developmental disabilities and the Cleveland County Health Department.

Maureen and Joe were active members, over many decades, at St. Thomas More University Catholic Parish in Norman, Oklahoma. Maureen enjoyed many church activities such as "Prime Timers club" and the Ladies Discussion Group. Maureen and Joe were also active in Dancing Shadows Round Dancing Club for many years. Maureen's other activities included membership in Normandy Acres Friendship Club, Saint Joseph's Golden Agers, and the University Women's Club. Maureen's favorite past times included reading (such as every day of every word in the Norman Transcript and Daily Oklahoman), sewing, travel, and following the growth of her children and grandsons.

Maureen leaves a legacy of memories for so many people that were touched by her life. She was known for her beaming presence of positivity, along with a smile to always share for all. She was a talented seamstress and cross-stitcher and left many precious pieces for her children and grandchildren. A few of the many great treasures were dresses for her growing girls in school, and unique and intricately cross-stitched Christmas stockings and baby blankets for her grandsons.

Maureen was a devoted and caring mother and daughter. Displaying immense resilience and strength through the 1970's and 1980's, Maureen was the primary caregiver for her ailing parents. Her mother suffered from long-term debilitating Parkinson's disease and required 24 hour care. Throughout that time, Maureen simultaneously worked part time and raised five children while Joe worked and obtained his doctorate. All the while, she always prepared a complete home cooked dinner ready for the entire family of 7 to share around the small kitchen table every single night on Osborne Drive. She attended all the children's games and events, as well as sewing and creating gifts for many. Maureen's positive character and many talents left an impact on so many that will never be forgotten.

Maureen leaves a legacy of: Son Michael Joseph Rieger and wife Rita Rieger of St. Louis, Missouri; Daughter Mary Ann Logan and husband Thomas Logan of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Daughter Alice Marie Stacey and husband Kevin Stacey of Mansfield, Texas; Daughter Molly Lynn Rieger of Norman, Oklahoma; and Son Sean Paul Rieger and wife Dana Rieger of Norman, Oklahoma.
