Born in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Elmer Abell and Emma Martz. He started farming as a child and continued his father's farm after he died. He then worked at Deffenbaugh for 15 years as a manager. After that he started his own business in Parker, Kansas called Parker Salvage and worked in that line for work for years.

His partner, Florence Goodson, lived together for years and helped raise her 5 children and most of her grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, the outdoors, and western movies. His favorite westerns were John Wayne movies and he could watch them over and over again.

He will be remembered for being a loving and caring father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, and brother. He was the best positive role model that we all looked up to and we will cherish all the life lessons he taught us.
