Memorial based on the obituary published in the Mobile Register (Mobile, Alabama) December 10, 1971, page 57; and the College of William and Mary's Africatown Archaeological Project 2010 research database of graves in the Old Plateau Cemetery.

MR. EARNEST ANTHONY - A native of Meridian, Miss., and a resident of Mobile and Prichard for a number of years, passed this life Sunday, Dec. 5, 1971, at his late residence, 840 S. Garrison Ave., Prichard. He is survived by his devoted wife,, Mrs. Rose L. Anthony; one daughter, Miss Mary C. Anthony of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Earnest Anthony, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Mr. Albert A. Adams, Rochester, New York, and Mr. Willie Adams, New Orleans, La.; five brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, a mother-in-law, Mrs. Easter Rucker of Prichard; three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews; two devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. George Paul of Mobile and other relatives and friends.

His remains will lie in state at the Hodge's Funeral Chapel Friday, Dec. 10, 1971 at 6 p.m. Euologistical services to be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 12 o'clock noon from the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. P.L. Ely officiating. Interment will follow in the Plateau Cemetery. Hodge's Funeral Chapel directing. (Successors to Smith and Gaston) Taylor H. Hodge Sr., President. Location: 701 Davis Ave.
