Professional Football Player. He received fame as an American collegiate and professional football player and coach. Morrissey attended Medford High School before going on to play football at Boston College from 1917 to 1920. A guard and tackle, he served as team captain from 1918 to 1920 and was the team's head coach in 1918, leading Boston College to a 5-2 record. He also played college baseball and hockey. After serving in the U.S. Army and graduating college, he turned professional and, in 1922, joined the Rochester Jefferson of the American Professional Football Association, which would soon be renamed the National Football League. After five games with Rochester, Morrissey moved to the Buffalo All-Americans and appeared in 10 games in 1923 and two more in 1924. He was named a second-team All-Pro by the "Green Bay Press-Gazette" in 1923. He also played in two games for the Milwaukee Badgers. During his professional career, Morrissey also served as an assistant coach for Canisius College from 1921 to 1924. He later worked in the chemical manufacturing and textile business.
