Mr. Blair was born in Polk County, GA, on July 7, 1930, son of the late R.E. Blair and the late Lula Powell Blair. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Mae Erwin, Inez Miller, Agnes Blair and Ruby White, and by 4 brothers, John Blair, Robert Blair, Buddy Blair and Rufus Blair. Mr. Blair was a veteran of the United States Army having served in during the Korean War. He retired from Georgia Power where he was foreman of building and grounds. Mr. Blair was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors and the VFW Post #4911. He was a master gardener and was known far and wide for his harvest of tomatoes and peppers, especially his "41's" pepper. Mr. Blair enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling and meeting people wherever he went. He was a people person and never met a stranger. To know Jimmy was to love him.
Survivors include his wife, to whom he was married on December 25, 1952; 3 sons; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren;2 brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Floyd Memory Gardens. His grandson-in-law, Rev. Rodney Willingham, will officiate and the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Affinity Hospice Care and to the Advent-Redmond 3rd floor ICU nurses and staff who went above an beyond the call of duty in their care for Jimmy.
