Jack Abbott, 77, of Oakland City, entered rest Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City.

He was born Oct. 18, 1934 in Oakland City, to Hallard and Mae E. (Shoultz) Abbott.

He was a 40-year member of Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 467 in Oakland City and Francisco General Baptist Church. He also was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallard and Mae Abbott and brothers Ansel, Garrett, Herschel and Hallard Jr., sisters; Aliene Meier, Thelma Fetterman, Ruth Ferguson, Christine Lane and Ellen White and one great granddaughter, Melissa Williams.

Surviving are his wife of years; Mary Ann (Hamilton) Abbott; daughter Cherie (Abbott) Williams and companion Nathan Hartley of Owensville; sister Lucille McKinney of Haubstadt; grandchildren Holly Williams, Cassie and Nathan Hartley, Patricia McCandless and Adam Williams.

Great Grandchildren: Clayton Jack Hartley, Kearstan, Jalynn and Anna Hartley and Rylee McCandless.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 2012 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel with burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Francisco. Dr. John Hornbrook and Dr. Darrell Hillhouse will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until services on Tuesday at the chapel. Masonic memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
