Harold B. "Shorty" Sumpter, 77 years of age, of Nancy, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Harold was born in the Delmar, Kentucky on April 12th, 1930, son of the late Orville and Mary Ella Dawes Sumpter. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies, fishing tournaments, racing with his son, working with wood & building and was of the Nazarene faith. He was a carpenter by trade.

Harold was survived by his loving wife, Isa Nell Rogers Sumpter of Nancy, Kentucky, whom he married on August 20th, 1953 in Somerset, Kentucky; one son, Danny Sumpter (and his fiance, Kathy Brown) of Nancy, Kentucky; one brother, Arlis Sumpter of Cumberland Point, Kentucky; like a grandson Ethan Wesley; several nieces & nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Sumpter and Mary Ella Sumpter; two brothers, Howard Sumpter and Lindsey Sumpter, and one sister, Jenetha Muse.

Visitations were held on Thursday, February 28th, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 29th, 2008 in the Chapel of the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Rogers officiating.

Interment followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post No#38 Honor Guard.

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
