50th OVI. F&S, Principal Musician , trans. to Co. D on 1 March 1863. Accidentally shot by picket at Gallatin TN--picket didn't know there was another picket line behind him, and assumed soldier was an enemy.

Note: He was listed in most of the papers as Sgt. but in the Roll of Honor as Pvt.


Wife: Maria R. O'Byrne McDonald, b. Ireland c1832, m. 1850-2 Sandusky Co., OH, d. c1894 inAmericus, Lyon County Kansas. She and sons were living in Cincinnati OH when she applied for a widow's pension.
