Eiko was born in Okinawa in 1944. At a young age she was orphaned after both parents died at young ages. She spent time in an orphanage and lived with family until adulthood. She was the middle child of 3 girls. Her life took a huge turn in 1969 when she married her American husband, Sterling, who was in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. She took the leap of faith and traveled to a country she's never been to and couldn't speak the language. Also 1969 was the year she had her eldest son. A couple of years later she had her second son.

Eiko was an extremely hard worker. She felt her life purpose was to help others as much as she could. She always put others before herself. She was also very independent and stubborn. She was loved by many people. She loved cats and would feed the feral cats near her home.

She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
