An obituary for Grace Mast was carried in the Hearld Palladium on Monday 20 Oct 1986 and reads: "Grace Mast Bridgman Grace (Brant) Mast, 96, for whom Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman, was named, died Saturday at the Mattix Center for Long Term Care at Berrien General Hospital, Berrien Center. She resides at 3620 Livingston Road, Bridgman. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Olivet Congregational Church, Bridgman, of which she was a member. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Boyd Funeral Home, Bridgman. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Mrs. Mast was born Jan. 20, 1890, in Lake Township. Her grandparents, a Mr. and Mrs. Cooper, gave Lake Township the property for the cemetery. Township officials then named the cemetery after her, according to the funeral home. Survivors include: one son, William of Bridgman; seven grand-children; and 11 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, in 1938, and by one daughter, Nellie Apple, in 1976."
