Mamie was the youngest child born to Oscar Ely Lewis and Ethel Amy Steele. Mamie 1st married Harry Glen Appell,divorced. Married 2nd to Joseph Harrison (Harry) Burger Aug. 29, 1933. They had three children, Shirley, Joann and Robert (Bob). Their early years after marriage was spent in Hot Springs,SD before moving to Des Moines,IA. They also lived in Columbia, SC for a period of time before finally returning to Des Moines. Mamie was a home maker.
