SCREW IN THROAT FATAL TO INFANT
An 11-month-old Erie, Michigan boy died yesterday on the way to Flower Hospital after he had swallowed a screw in his home.
Steven Beautler, son of Mr. Mrs. S.J Beutler, 2400 Merie Rd. one of 10 children apparently pick up the screw crawling around the floor. Dr. Harry Mignerey, Lucas County coroner rolled the death accidental afer an autopsy was performed today.
The death, at first was a mystery because the screw could not be seen in the child throat, Dr. Mignerey said the screw lodge far down in the larynx, closing off all air.
Efforts by neighbors, relatives in the Morin Pointe Rescue squad to revive the child by artificial respiration failed and he was rushed to the hospital. Rescue squad men gave mouth-to-mouth rescusitation,.
Surviving besides the parents are brothers, Gerald, Donald and David; sisters Mrs. Margaret Trabbic, Carol, Linda, Barbara, Mary and Pamela all of the Erie; grandparents Mr. Mrs. Albert Mohrbach, Newaygo, Michigan and Mrs. Adeline Beutler, Toledo.
The body will be in the Jasin Mortuary, Toledo until Sunday when it will be returned to St. Joseph's Church for services at 3 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
