Born: Spytkowice - Powiat Wadowice - Poland. An orphan, reared by family members.
Married February 15, 1911, Poland; immigrated 1912.
Of Buffalo and Lackawanna, NY. Mother of: Mary (Vincent) LoTempio; Stanley (Mary) Jacobik, Anthony (Helen) Jacobik, Adeline Kurczewski, Steffie (Edward) Bania; infant Veronica Jakubik, Frances Madar, Emily (Leonard) Binns, Bernard (Gloria) Jakubik, Theresa (Michael) Morgan and many decendents.
Mary's creative talent was embroidery. One special gift for a new baby was a birth picture, featuring the details of the baby's birthday. Mary had a fond spot in her heart for flowers and gardens. Her front porch was covered with climbing red roses. The front garden was enclosed by a wire fence to prevent any of her garden from damage. Sweet pea grew along the fence. The entire garden was flowers, without any grass, with only small paths between the plants. A rain barrel collected water in the back, and sunflowers grew tall near an old wood shed in the back.
Mary loved canaries and bought records to teach them to sing. They lived in a cage in her dining room. She saw most of her grandchildren and many great-grandchildren baptized in the family christening dress, with pink or blue ribbons on the eyelet slip. All babies loved Busia, and did not cry for her. She liked a cup of tea. She liked to pretend to be "Sheba" by putting her little finger to the side of her chin and tilting her head downward, and we would all laugh. She always wore dresses, never wore pants, never used makeup, and mostly never wore her teeth. She was beautiful beyond words. She loved the name Rose, her mother's name.
