Joseph Harlan "Joe" Cissell, Bardstown, age 82 passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023 at his residence. He was born on August 14, 1940 in Marion County to the late William Linus and Alice Newton Cissell.

Joe was a retired supervisor for Beam Distillery after 37 years of service. He was a member of St. Gregory Church where he was a former choir member and was active in the Men's Club and helped with the building and grounds and wherever else he was needed. Joe loved playing the guitar and singing with family and friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Dragoo Cissell, infant daughter, Mary Ann Cissell, one grandchild, Tasha Danielle, two brothers, James A. "Brother" Cissell, and Charlie Cissell, half brothers, Willett, Earl, Rollie, Ben, Billy and R.V. Cecil, half sisters, Ruby Cecil, Gladys Humphrey and Mary Bryan.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Damian) Dickerson of Taylorsville, Vickie (Tim) Johnson of Bakersfield, CA., Larry Cissell of Bardstown, Terry (James) Heath of Russell Springs, Doug (Penny) Cissell of McKee, Tonya (Charlie) Johnson of Cox's Creek, Tabitha Inghram of Bloomfield, Jacinta (Steven) Revell of Richmond, his sisters, Betty Ann Hillard, Mary Alice Cecil, Catherine Rose Newton and his brother, Michael Cissell. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and a special nephew, Bernard Cecil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church with Rev. Kien Nguyen celebrant. Interment will be in St. Gregory Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00am-8:00pm with 7:00pm prayers with additional visitation Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am
