Jessie Ferrier Clawes (1901-1996), was the wife of Roy A Clawes (1901-1959). She was the oldest daughter of Hugh Ferrier Sr (1872-1950), and Anna Rodger Hutton (1874-1957), both of Brechin, Angus, Scotland.

Her sister's were Ina Ferrier (1904-1993), and Mary Ferrier Berg (1902-1993)and her brothers were Charles Hutton Ferrier (1899-1954), and Hugh Ferrier Jr (1915-1986).

Jessie and Roy were parents of; Betty Braddy King (1926-1995), Richard (Donna) Clawes, and Robert Clawes (Dolores) Clawes.

In 1902 she came to the USA from Scotland with her parents and older Charles and sister Mary. The family settled in the Chicago area. She attended The Lucy Flower Technical High School. It was the only Chicago public high school exclusively for girls. She attended school until 8th grade which was customary back then. She had excellent grammer, penmanship and intuitive wisdom.

She married Roy Clawes in Chicago in January 1922 at age 20. She learned to drive a car and got her drivers licence in her 60's so she could travel to her job in retail. She was 5' 2" and quite easily excited! I think it's why she lived to be 95 years old! She was almost always happy and laughing about something. Good daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, the list goes on she was an all-round good person. Loyal to all her family until the end. She seemed to be the glue to hold it together as family at times, as members always flocked to her household to be together. She and her sisters and sister-in-law Mae had a very jovial laughter that was extremely contagious! I loved that about her. One thing I remember and really respected her for was that didn't drive a car until her sixties as she was always getting driven around by family members all the time, but when she noticed it was getting to be a problem, she had the spunk to learn and do it! She worked in department stores for a time as a saleslady.

Jessie was one of the most STRONG, GENEROUS, LOVING, and CARING people I've ever had the pleasure to know. She never missed sending cards for birthday's special occasions, and Holiday's.
