Joan's obituary read:

"Joan Brachmann Meyers December 18, 1925 - January 29, 2008 Joan Brachmann Meyers passed away peacefully in her Redwood City home, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in San Francisco on December 18, 1925. Raised by parents Jacob and Lee Weinstein, she was a graduate of Washington High School. A pioneer among women in her field, Joan became one of the first woman private investigators in the country, a career she enjoyed for over 35 years. Joan went out of her way to help people in her private and professional life. Joan especially loved traveling and game play . She was extremely generous to family, friends and neighbors. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joan is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jack Meyers; son, Dan and her daughters Janice, Paula and Nanci. She was a loving nana to Matt, Jennifer and Rayna in addition to her great-grandson Joey. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, February 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Peninsula Temple Sholom, 1655 Sebastian Dr., Burlingame. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society."-- San Francisco Chronicle, February 1, 2008
