Weds Japanese after Romance of Ten Years
English Girl Marries Local Restaurant Man
A romance which began ten years ago in England ended in the marriage in Philadelphia yesterday of Miss Mary A Bain, 28, of London, to Clichi Akatsuka, 32, a Japanese, owner of the Tokio Restaurant, 1308 Columbia avenue.
Atkasuka was a sailor in the United States Navy for more than twelve years. About ten years ago in London he met Miss Bain. They corresponded regularly for some years and met every year or two until the war started. Since then they did not correspond until recently, when Akatsuka wrote and asked the young woman if she would come to this country and marry him.
Miss Bain consented and arrived in this country about a week ago. She lived at 3003 North Sixth Street... [excerpt ends]
