Irene M. Naftzger, 89, of 644 S. Collins St., died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the emergency room of St. Rita's Medical Center following a sudden illness.
She was born June 20, 1895, in Lima, the daughter of Alex and Mary Fitzgerald Engle. She married Raymond B. Naftzger, who died in 1964.
Mrs. Naftzger was a retired licensed practical nurse at Ottawa Valley Hospital. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society there, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and served as past president of the Lima Garden Club.
Survivors include three sons, Bernard Naftzger, Robert Naftzger and Eugene Naftzger, all of Lima; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp-Murphy Funeral Home, where parish vigil services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday.
