Elizabeth J. Myers, who has been a resident of Newton county for a number of years past, and is well known here, died at her home Friday morning, June 7th at 5 A. M. of consumption.
The funeral was held at the residence Saturday morning at 9 A. M. The house was crowded with mourners and friends of the deceased, who assembled on this sad occasion to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased.
The funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. R Green of the Christian church, who delivered a very fine and interesting discourse, which was very impressive and sympathetic.
Elizabeth J. Cox was born August 18th, 1837, in Jackson county, Tennessee, was married to William G. Myers May 18th, 1856, came to Missouri November 7th, 1877, with her husband and family. Became a member of the Christian church at the age of 16, was a faithful worker and had hosts of friends wherever she lived.
She leaves an aged Husband and six children to mourn her loss, but their loss is her eternal gain. They have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
The remains were buried in the Dice cemetery.
We thank the neighbors for their kindness.
