W. G. Myers, formerly a citizen of Newtonia township, this county, died at Okeema, in the Creek Nation, Oklahoma, on January 30, of paralysis, aged 73 years.
He came to Newton county from Tennessee in 1877 and lived here until about four years ago when he went to the Territory to make his home with a son and daughter who live there. Two sons, John B. and N. C. Myers, live at Newtonia. All were present at his death except John B.
Mr. Myers was a Confederate soldier, serving through the war and surrendered with General Lee's army at Appomatox. He was a member of the Christian charch and an excellent citizen.
His old friends in this county will regret to hear of his death.
